All in one
The Kitarrikool (Guitar School) project is a complex system of teaching a musical instrument that is concentrated on the acquisition of practical skills. Each course has a specific goal and a fixed deadline for achieving it. (However, when taking the online course, you'll have more flexible schedule:)
Unlike music schools where the instruction lasts for a long time and the goals are therefore more distant and vague, Guitar School teaches its students to play the instrument in a very short time.
Besides teaching the guitar both online and in live groups, the Kitarrikool project publishes innovative tutor books, releases guitar CD-s and organizes concerts. Also we have an online guitar shop. Of course - some of our activities are strictly local and take place in Estonia, Europe. But as our largest field of work is the online school then feel free to join us from all corners of the world! Register to the online course (the first level and first feedback is free!)
Group instruction
The second important factor besides real goals is group instruction. Learning to play an instrument in the company of friends is more fun and students acquire information faster in an atmosphere of positive competition. But as for any method of instruction, it is important for the student to have time and motivation to practice at home! A lesson is a place for receiving new information and checking one’s progress, but the main work will take place at home.
Creative
Thirdly, the courses of Guitar School are so structured that one piece of knowledge grows out of another and students learn to invent and create rather than mechanically perform the notes as they are written down.
Resources
Guitar School offers you everything necessary to start playing the guitar right away. You can form a group, invite an instructor, rent guitars, tuners, order guitar strings, etc. Or you can start right now with the internet course.
Advanced course
Guitar School’s basic course is Accompaniment on the Guitar. Those who have completed this course, either over the internet or in a group lesson, will be able to continue. The next course is Practical Ensemble Playing that presents the possibilities of the guitar in performing together with other guitars or alternative instruments and broadens the knowledge of the guitar as an accompanying, solo and rhythm instrument.
Our school is part of a scientific research
The Kitarrikool's online project is based on Kristo Käo's PhD research at the University of Tartu, department of the educational technology. To put it very short - music education over the internet is something very new and even if you can find some programs that have good quality in materials, then the way of presenting the materials still needs to be researched. So, the way that the material is presented here, is changing over time as the science in this field progresses. As for the study materials itself - you can be sure that they are of superb quality, too, as it is put together by university tutors of guitar pedagogy. Enjoy, while it is still cheap )
